I received a Financial Responsibility Verification Letter from the BMV

In most states, if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident, you wil receive a Financial Responsibility Verification notice from the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  It will be delivered by mail within several weeks of the accident.

This is notification that you must verify that you had automobile insurance on the vehicle involved in the accident the day the accident occured.  It is required that you comply before the day specified in the notice.

Failure to do so will result in a suspension of your drivers license.

To comply, you must take the notice to your insurance agent and she will verify that you did have insurance on that vehicle on that day.  They will log into the BMV website and provide the proper information about your vehicle and your insurance policy information.

After your agent completes the process, a Certificate of Compliance is issued indicating that you did in fact comply with state law, by having and proving that you had a valid insurance policy the day of the accident.

If you have questions just contact your agent, he/she can easily explain and walk you through the process.
